The proposed Lifelong Learning (LLL) opportunities of USAGE are related to the initiative of the European Qualifications Framework (EQF)<\/a>, which is a common European reference framework for work working and learning across different countries and systems.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cLifelong learning refers to learning opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds. It takes place in diverse learning contexts, including digital environments. It covers a wide range of learning purposes and contributes to skills enhancement for the benefit of individuals, communities and the planet. Lifelong learning denotes a culture of engagement in learning throughout life made possible by flexible learning pathways. It is fostered by individual curiosity and the pursuit of knowledge, community-based learning initiatives and multi-sectoral policy-making and programme implementation.\u201d UNESCO<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The aim of the USAGE project is to promote transparency and accountability in higher education regarding LLL. That means, <\/p>\n\n\n\n

– to foster cooperation between education and training organisations, industry and their employers, farmers, and other providers to increase the relevance of the LLL short programs for the labor market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– to strengthen the culture of lifelong learning by turning higher education into lifelong learning institutions, promoting collective learning and enabling access to innovative technologies and acquiring transversal skills through a holistic approach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– to promote the concept of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD)<\/a>, which empowers learners to take informed decisions and responsible actions for environmental integrity, economic viability and a just society, for present and future generations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
